To-do lists are probably the best solution for keeping track of important tasks. The principle behind them is simple, yet remarkably effective. Todoist takes a step forward, by allowing you to manage your tasks online and synchronize them across multiple platforms. The application comes with many useful features, which you would expect to find on any professional task managers. Prioritizing tasks, setting up reminders or keeping track of productivity are just a few examples.

Todoist comes in free and premium editions and it is available for numerous platforms. You can use it on Windows and Mac OS X, as well as Android and iOS mobile devices. Furthermore, there are various plugins available, for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Gmail, MS Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. Besides installing the application, which takes only a few seconds, you also need to create an online account, which can be done just as fast.

The application's desktop interface is simple and easy to understand. It consists of a list, with options for creating projects, adding tasks and more. You can assign due dates to each task, prioritize or postpone them, mark them as complete, add notes or set up reminders. It is also possible to move tasks left and right, to transform them into sub-tasks, for other items.

You can use the same username and password to log onto Todoist's HTML5-based web interface, on your preferred browser. The web interface has a similar layout and you can perform the same actions. You can even click and drag your tasks, to arrange them in a different order. As previously suggested, Todoist can be used on mobile devices as well. The changes you make on one platform will be applied automatically on all other platforms, on which you have Todoist.

Working in offline mode is another possibility. If your Internet connection is interrupted, you may continue creating and managing your tasks. When the connection is resumed, the application will synchronize your changes right away, without any user input.
